Last week the Huntsmen EHL Team was on the road to face the New York Applecore. The Premier Team had their first action of 2025 with three games in three days. They were on the road Friday against the Union Jr. Thunder, then returned home to face the New Jersey Bears and New Jersey Renegades.
EHL at Applecore (Thurs)
The newcomer Theodore Lountzis found Enzo Giuliani in front of the net at 11:08 of the 1st period. Lountzis fired the puck from the near corner allowing Giuliani to score his 8th goal of the year. Later in the period Ryan Arendes scored on the power play notching his 18th goal for the 2-0 lead. Lountzis had the initial shot from the point and Warren’s shot was saved and Arendes was there for the rebound. The Applecore fought back early in the 2nd period. New York tied the game with two goals less than two minutes into the period. The Huntsmen had a strong response and ended the period with four straight goals. Eddie Mirigliano scored his 8th goal of the year assisted by Tremblay and Booth . In the final two minutes of the period, the Huntsmen scored in rapid fire fashion. Aidan Hellyer (3), Xavier Tremblay (5), and David Cook (12) gave Pennsylvania a 6-2 lead. The Applecore did score in the 3rd but the Huntsmen won the game 6-3. Andrew Knox made 30 saves in net for the win.
EHL at Applecore (Fri)
The Huntsmen had another good start. Devin England scored the first goal of the game. After the Huntsmen kept the puck in the zone, Aidan Hellyer spun a pass to Manzi, he quickly fed the puck to England for his 6th goal of the year at 4:36. Eddie Mirigliano made his 2-0 Huntsmen at 13:58. Cook sent the pass net front to Arendes, he got a small piece of it and Mirigliano was there to fire it home, his 7th goal of the year. A late penalty by New York carried into the 2nd period. The Huntsmen wasted no time as John Manzi netted his 5th goal of the year with help from Mirigliano and Trevor Rissor. The power play goal was :29 into the period and it was 3-0. Ryan Arendes with his team high 19th goal extended the lead to 4-0. England was working on the far boards; he sent the puck to Manzi and Manzi found Arendes in the slot for the goal. About four minutes later, the Applecore had a five on three power play, and they scored. Arendes answered back for the Huntsmen with his second of the game and 20th of the season. Enzo Giuliani and Auge Cisar were credited with the assists and the rout was on. In the opening minute of the 3rd, Theodore Lountzis scored his first goal with the Huntsmen making it 6-1. New York did score one more time, but it didn't effect the game. Mirigliano, England, and Manzi are scored their second goals of the game for Pennsylvania as they dominated in a 9-2 victory. Chominsky made 18 saves in net for the win.
Premier at Thunder
The Huntsmen had a fast start thanks to Anthony LoGiurato scoring at 2:58 of the 1st period. LoGiurato is a veteran forward but had been out all season with an injury and in his first game back put PAH up 1-0. Christian Starr and Cullen Heintz had the assists. Starr also got back in the action after being injured a couple months ago. Raleigh Radkowski’s 8th goal of the year gave the Huntsmen a 2-0 lead. Mostoller had the initial shot followed by James Mirigliano, the puck was still loose, and Radkowski sent it home. The Thunder controlled the last half of the 1st period, and they scored a power play goal, and another goal late to tie the game 2-2. In the 2nd period, Union took the lead at 13:35. The Huntsmen had a power play but didn't take advantage and still trailed 3-2 after 40 minutes. James Mirigliano scored his team leading 14th goal of the year at 16:25 from the far faceoff circle tying the game 3-3. The game went into overtime, but no one scored so the game was decided in a shootout. Mirigliano, and LoGiurato both tallied in the shootout and the Huntsmen won the game 4-3. Victor Strnad got better as the game went along and he made 35 saves for the win in net.
Premier vs Bears (Sat)
The Bears controlled the game scoring twice in the 1st period. Keegan Zelko put the Huntsmen on the board early in the 2nd scoring his second goal of the year. Cullen Heintz fired the initial shot, and the puck went behind the net. Aidan Reedy got there for the Huntsmen and sent the puck to Zelko in the faceoff circle and he fired the puck home making it a 2-1 game. In the 3rd period, the Huntsmen continued to build chances, but the Bears scored an insurance goal and won the game 3-1. Bates made 28 saves in net for the Huntsmen
Premier vs Renegades (Sun)
There was no score in the 1st period and the Huntsmen successfully killed a Renegades power play. Anthony LoGiurato gave the Huntsmen the lead 13:07 of the 2nd period. Luca Palachick skated into the offensive zone and sent a rink wide pass to LoGiurato. He skated into the slot and scored his second goal of the weekend. In the 3rd the Renegades tied the game with a power play goal. Just over a minute later, New Jersey scored again, taking a 2-1 lead. Late in regulation (G) Josh Pierce went to the bench for the extra attacker. Pennsylvania couldn’t tie the game and lost to the Renegades. Pierce had a good day in net making 37 saves in the loss.

EHL
The Huntsmen have a big home and home series coming up against the Philadelphia Little Flyers. The Little Flyers are in last place in the South but are only one point behind the Huntsmen. The Little Flyers are 11-12-3 with 25 points, the Huntsmen are 12-13-2 with 26 points. They’ve gone head-to-head four times this season and the Huntsmen have won 3-4. The first meetings were back in September and the Huntsmen were victorious 7-1, and 3-2. The last time these teams saw each other was mid-November before Thanksgiving. Philadelphia won 5-1 and the Huntsmen answered with a 4-1 win. The Little Flyers are coming off two big overtime wins against Philadelphia Hockey Club, 3-2 and 4-3. Both teams are trying to make a playoff push so this is a key series.
Premier
Just one game this week for the Huntsmen but it’s a big challenge. They will host the New Jersey 87s. The 87s are first in the South Division and 2nd overall in the Premier with a record of 23-3 for 46 points. New Jersey is 5-0 against the Huntsmen this season and are currently on a 10-game win streak. Overall, the Huntsmen are 5th in the division with a record of 10-15-1 with 21 points. The 2-5 spots are tight in the South. The Bears have 30pts, Thunder 24, and Renegades 21 points.
