EHL PIVOTAL GAMES AHEAD | PREMIER SPLITS WEEKEND

The EHL Team started off February on the road against the New Jersey Bears. The Premier Team was on the road to face the Union Jr. Thunder for a two-game series.  

EHL vs Bears

The Bears started the scoring less than a minute into the game. There was no scoring in the 2nd period as both teams traded chances. The 3rd period is when the Bears pulled away. They scored two quick goals a few minutes apart taking a 3-0 lead. The Huntsmen had two power plays but didn't get on the board. In a last-ditch effort, the net was empty for PA, but the Bears would score and win 4-0.

Premier vs Thunder (Saturday)

The scoring started in the 2nd period. Brock Burrell set up Auge Cisar back door for the 1-0 lead. A few minutes later the Huntsmen had a power play and Burrell extended the lead to 2-0. Early in the 3rd, the Huntsmen were called for a major. The Thunder responded with a power play goal making it 2-1. Late in the period, Burrell scored another power play goal, and it was 3-1. The Thunder emptied the net, but Aidan Boyle scored and Pennsylvania won the game 4-1.

Premier vs Thunder (Sunday)

Just like the night before, there was no scoring in the 1st period. The Thunder got on the board first just under four minutes into the period. The Huntsmen tied the game with a power play goal as Tristan Fallon scored on the rebound. Union answered back and took a 2-1 lead. The Thunder scored twice in the 3rd period taking a 4-1 lead. The Huntsmen emptied the net, but the Thunder added the ENG to win the game 5-1.

            EHL

The Huntsmen have lost three in a row and remain in last place. Coming up is another matchup against the Bears. This will be the final head-to-head of the season. Also, at the end of the week they face Philadelphia Hockey Club. The Huntsmen won the most recent meeting 4-3. PHC is the team that the Huntsmen are trying to catch in the South Division for a playoff spot. PHC is in 5th place with 36 points, and the Huntsmen have 33. This head-to-head matchup is going to be crucial. Philadelphia is coming off a 3-0 win against Team Maryland.

            Premier

After splitting the weekend with the Thunder, the loss on Sunday ended the Huntsmen winning streak at 14 games. Pennsylvania is still in 1st place (53pts) in the Mid-Atlantic Division, but the margin is slim. The 87s are in 2nd place, 3 points behind the Huntsmen. The 87s are coming off a big weekend after two wins against the Adirondack Jr. Thunder. Adirondack is first in the New England Division with 54 points. This weekend, the Huntsmen return to home ice to face the Philadelphia Little Flyers, and the New Jersey Renegades. Last Saturday, the Renegades lost 4-3 to the Little Flyers in overtime. The Huntsmen are 4-2 against the Little Flyers this season. Philadelphia won the first two matchups of the year, and since then the Huntsmen have won four straight against them. Against the Renegades, the Huntsmen are 6-1 this year.
