PA BACK IN WIN COLUMN WITH DIVISION WIN

The Huntsmen were back in action on home ice last weekend. Another weekend with just one game, this time against the Philadelphia Little Flyers. The Huntsmen were looking to avoid losing a fifth game in a row before a long road stretch.

Sunday vs Little Flyers

The Huntsmen got on the board seven minutes into the game. In the offensive zone, Daniels had the puck near the corner. He setup a give and go with Finkeldey, who was behind the net, then Daniels ripped a shot and went bar down on (G) Wah for the 1-0 lead. Pennsylvania added to their lead late in the period to continue the momentum in their favor. Gavin Wilson won an offensive zone faceoff to Chase Mueller at the point, and he sent a low wrister that found its way to the net making it 2-0. The Huntsmen continued to push and increase the lead. In the neutral zone the Little Flyers would turn the puck over to Ryan Arendes and he made them pay and Pennsylvania took a 3-0 lead at the end of the period. The Huntsmen picked up right where they left off. Early in the 2nd period Chase Canestra, pulled a nice move to beat a defender and then went backhand for the tally and PA was in control at 4-0. Daniil Diukin added another goal going coast to coast and finished with a backhand and it was 5-0 Huntsmen. That goal would send (G) Wah to the bench and Andrew Craig stepped in for the remainder of the game. A couple minutes later the Huntsmen were on the powerplay, but a bad turnover in their own zone led to a shorthanded goal for the Little Flyers to make it 5-1. Philadelphia would score again in the 3rd period, and they were starting to build a little bit of momentum. The Huntsmen would take a penalty that stopped a breakaway chance, and the Little Flyers were awarded a penalty shot near the midway point of the 3rd period. Jones was able to make the save and it took the wind out of the Little Flyers. There wasn’t any more scoring and the Huntsmen would get back in the win column with a 5-2 victory. Ty Jones picked up his 10th win of the season while making 27 saves.

“Coming into this game we wanted to execute because we wanted to prove ourselves. We wanted to be the team we are supposed to be. We have to have fun out there. Some guys grab their sticks too tight and are pent up. We all love this game, and we are a team and that’s why we were able to get the win today.” Jaeger Daniels

“Last few weeks have been a little shaky and going through a slump. We have to continue to work hard and stick to our gameplan. Today was a good win for us.” Ty Jones

“The theme throughout our locker room is that we have to come into the game with a positive attitude. We can’t turn on each other because the negativity will only bring us down. Today we came in with that positive attitude and got the win.” Ryan Arendes

Next Up

The season continues to roll on as now we turn to December. It was a good win for the Huntsmen because they will not be back on home ice until after the holiday break.
